TMD Auto Co. is a family owned workshop on Thomas Mitchell Drive in Wodonga. The name is the street, and the sign above the door is the one Corey Edwards put up when he opened his own place in 2024.
Transmissions, gearboxes, diffs and driveline are the specialty, and it is genuinely niche work. But the roller door is open for ordinary jobs too: log book servicing, brakes, suspension, batteries, a dash light you want read properly. As their own words have it, we keep your vehicles on the move.

Driveline work is the specialty. General mechanical work keeps the lights on. You can book one car in for both.
Automatic, manual and CVT. Servicing, diagnosis and full repairs, in the workshop rather than sent away to someone else.
Gearbox rebuilds and repairs across makes and models, from daily drivers through to older gear that nobody else wants to touch.
Diff servicing, repairs and rebuilds. Noises, whines and leaks looked at properly instead of guessed at.
Vibration through the floor at speed usually starts here. Tailshafts balanced in house as part of the driveline work.
Pads, discs, clutch replacement and hydraulics. The parts that decide whether the rest of the car is safe to drive.
General mechanical work on anything that rolls in. No two days here are the same, and that is the way the workshop likes it.
Manufacturer log book servicing that keeps your new car warranty intact, plus scheduled care for work fleets.
Dash lights and fault codes read on proper scan gear, then explained to you in plain language before anything is quoted.
Shocks, bushes, ball joints and steering components. Worth doing before a car starts eating tyres.
Testing, charging and replacement, including the fussier modern batteries that need registering to the car.
We handle all transmission servicing and repairs. Automatic, manual, CVT. You name it, we fix it. Our expert technicians will get you back on the road smoothly and safely.
Do not ignore those warning signs
Caught early, a transmission problem is usually a service and a part. Left alone, it is a rebuild. If your car is doing any of the above, ring the workshop and describe it. That conversation costs nothing.
Talk it through on 02 6024 5177Broken down on the Hume? We have done this before.
A fair share of the cars through this workshop belong to people who were only ever passing through Wodonga. One customer lost all his transmission oil twenty kilometres out of Albury on Boxing Day, during the Christmas shutdown, and was back on the road in two days.
“Cory diagnosed the issue quickly and arranged for the replacement part. He worked on the car quickly and had us up and back on the road within two days so we could continue with our trip.”

Before you go, two questions worth asking. Has your towing vehicle’s transmission been serviced recently? And does it have a transmission cooler installed?
If the answer to either is no, we have got you covered. We can take care of both, along with your regular log book servicing, so you are all set for your next trip.
“The team installed a new transmission cooling system in our 200 series Land Cruiser and took the time to review with us and discuss the general condition of the car.”

Corey Edwards, TMD Auto Co.
Corey grew up in country Victoria and did his apprenticeship there. He opened TMD Auto Co. in Wodonga in 2024, and it has been a family business from the first day.
What he was after was a workshop where no two days are the same and where the hard jobs stay in house. Transmission work is the part most garages will not take on, and it is exactly the part this one wanted.
Set up for driveline work, not just servicing.
Niche experience in transmissions, and happy to explain it.
Daily drivers, work fleets, tow rigs and the occasional classic.

The gold 1969 Holden HT Premier is Corey’s own. He first worked on it as an apprentice in country Victoria, back when it was still a standard six cylinder. It now runs a GM LT1, which makes it the first LT1 swapped Holden anywhere in the world.
In his own words: “People do not realise how different these LTs are to an LS, and there are no parts here in Australia.” He built the mounts, modified the sump, had custom headers made and adapted the engine management himself.
As featured in Street Machine magazine. The point, if there is one: the person rebuilding your gearbox does this for fun on the weekend.

Thank you guys for taking such good care of my dad yesterday. He's been having issues with his car for quite a while, and everywhere he's gone has either brushed him off or not wanted to take the time to properly look at it. Dad stopped in unannounced, and Corey took the time to go through everything with him, inspect the car, and clearly explain what was going on. What really stood out was that he wasn't charged for the time and advice, which was greatly appreciated - you can tell Corey loves what he does & Dad finally felt listened to and taken seriously. He'll definitely be back, and we can't thank you enough for your kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help. Highly recommend! 10/10

Going from Melbourne to Port Stephens msw Boxing Day 2025 broke down 20ks out of Albury with a transmission that spilt a gasket and lost all oil. Called and left a message and Cory was fantastic in that he returned the call even though it was during the Xmas shut down period. We arranged for the car to be towed to his work shop. Cory diagnosed the issue quickly and arranged for the replacement part. He worked on the car quickly and had us up and back on the road within two days so we could continue with our trip. His service was excellent and would highly recommend using his workshop either if your local or need something done while on the road.

The team installed a new transmission cooling system in our 200 series Land Cruiser and took the time to review with us and discuss the general condition of the car. Efficient, expert and friendly! I would highly recommend. Amazing coffee at drop off out the front also!

We travel permanently in our caravan and have been having an issue with our car. Called into TMD Auto this afternoon to discuss the problem. We appreciated Cory taking the time to talk to us, and because we were talking to him for quite a while we wanted to pay for his time, which I think is fair. He would not take payment from us, so I would like to take this opportunity to say, even though he didn't do any hands on work for us, he certainly does seem to know what he is talking about and we appreciated his expert advice. Please support this fantastic company.

Was having driveline issues with my FG-X Falcon Ute. From the beginning Corey was incredibly helpful. Taking time out of his day for a quick test drive and diagnosis. Fantastic customer service. Found my new local mechanic. Cheers

Look for the black front with the blue wings above the door. There is usually something interesting parked out the front.
